NOTE ISSUE HIGHER. The sterling exchange funds of the Reserve Bank on March 8 totalled £32,048.762, an increase for the week of £781,005. The note issue at £30,257,587 shows an increase of £213,874. The statement as at Monday, March 8. is ae follows: LABILITIES. *
Proportion of reserve to notes and other demand liabilities, 48.376 per cent., compared with 47.042 per cent, on March 1. The receive on March 1 totalled £34.807,017, an increase of £757,259. A year ago the reserve was Sterling exchange on March 8 totalled £32,048,762, an increase of £781,005. Liabilities in currencies other than New Zealand currency were £43,662 (an increase of £23,746), thus making the bank's net overseas assets £32,005,140, an increase for the week of £757,259. A year ago these assets totalled £18,794,038. Advances to the State Marketing Department total £2,432,982, k decrease of £1,772,485. A year ago they were £5,615,872. Advances to the State for other purposes total £30,230,000, an increasa of £230,000, against £25,750,000 a year ago. The note issue on March 8 totalled £30,257,587, an increase for the week of £213,874, A year ago it stood at £23,349,988. Demand liabilities to the State amount to £24,942,883, an increase of £7.975,671. The trading banks' reserve balances total £16,155,435, n decrease of £8,656,509. Other )iabili> ties at £595.174 have increased by £35,840. The statement balances at £75.128.585, • decrease of £391,329.
