ARMED FORCES BOARD
WANGANUI SITTING DECISIONS ANNOUNCED The Wanganui Armed Forces Appeal Board sat in Wanganui yesterday, when it was engaged in hearing appeals and applications for leave from camp. The board comprised Messrs. F. Purnell (Marton), chairman, H. Adams (Wanganui), and A. P. Melville (Fordell). Appeals and decisions were: — A. J. W. Hodder, dental surgeon, personal appeal (review), decision reserved; W. H. Moore, farm hand, personal appeal and appeal by Mrs. E. E. Moore (review), adjourned sine die. The following Home Guard appeals were dealt with:—L. Martin, appeal by A. W. Rice, dismissed: B. G. Mullins, personal appeal, adjourned sine die, re-transferred to the E.R.C. The following applications for leave from camp were dealt with: —The Sisters of St. Joseph, for W. M. Burke, gardener, indefinite leave recommended as from March 31, to join Home Guard; Hallenstein Bros.. Ltd., for R. J. Callan, indefinite leave recommended, to join Home Guard: Maypole Stores, Ltd., for L. P. H. Cox, indefinite leave recommended, to join Home Guard; B. Bullock and Co., Ltd., for W. G. Doughty, indefinite leave recommended; A. Gedye. personal application, indefinite leave recommended, to join Home Guard; D. J. Gould, personal application, indefinite leave recommended; F. J. Griggs, personal application, indefinite leave recommended, to join Home Guard; Wanganui Engineering Works, for D. Hunwick, indefinite leave recommended; D. McFarlane and Co., Ltd., for J. H. Kench, indefinite leave recommended, to join Home Guard; N. C. Lorentzen, personal application, indefinite leave recommended; R. and E. Tin,gey and Co., Ltd., for G. J. Massey, indefinite leave recommended; the Public Service Commissioner, for N. G. Meuli, indefinite leave recommended; V. Pervan, personal application, indefinite leave recommended, to join Home Guard; Mrs. V. Tasker, for H. Silk, no recommendation; the N.Z. Refrigerating Co., Ltd., for G. Trengrove, indefinite leave recommended; Wanganui City Council, for T. S. Bristol, indefinite leave recommended, to join the D.E.S.C.; A. H. Marshall, for J. Sinclair, leave to April 10 recommended; Wanganui Mild Cure Bacon Co., Ltd., for G. G. Reu, no recommendation.
