SHORTAGE OF ROADMEN

COUNTY COUNCIL PROBLEMS Difficulties experienced in completing road repairs before the start of the winter months were commented on by the engineer, Mr. R. R. Dawson, when referring at a meeting ot the Wanganui County Council yesterday to the shortage of labour and motor-trucks. “It is hard to complete work because of the shortage of men,” said Mr. Dawson, who added that it often happened that when he was ready to start one ‘ undertaking, another of a more urgent nature required imhiediate attention, with the result that available men were diverted. A shortage of motor-trucks also caused problems. The chairman, Cr. W. Craig, agreeing with the engineer, said one road was short of three men. “It. is difficult to cope with any one job,” the chairman added.
