AID FROM VATICAN

BRITISH PRISONERS OF WAR Rvd. 6 p.m. Rugby, March 10. Mr. Anthony Eden, British Foreign Secretary, when asked in the House of Commons what had been given by the Vatican Secretariat for British prisoners of war, said the Vatican had given much material aid and moral comfort to British prisoners in Italy and the Far East, as much as was in its power. This was very much appreciated by the Government.

When asked if it were true that nearly 100,000 communications from British prisoners had been transmitted through the Vatican, Mr. Eden said it might very well be 50.—8.0.W
