“WINGS FOR VICTORY” DRIVE Recd. 6 p.m. London, March 9. Miss Jean Batten is to tour Britain to speak in the “Wings for Victory" campaign. She addressed a big crowd in Trafalgar Square, London, and told them that thousands of pilots and crews were coming to Great Britain from every Dominion. They were leaving their homes and families to join in the fight for freedom and were prepared to sacrifice everything. Led. by Flight-Lieutenant B. H. Beale (Wellington), four officers, and 114 members of the R.N.Z.A.F., who recently arrived from Canada and New Zealand, formed part of a parade through London. The crowds gave them enthusiastic applause. The “Wings for Victory” week has already brought in £102,617,440, compared with £99,083,054 for the corresponding period in the “Warships Week.”
