PATEA NEWS

COMPLIMENTARY SOCIAL. On Monday evening the Druids' Hall at Patea was crowded with a large and representative gathering ot town and country residents, assembled to do honour to Sgt. R. G. Haddow and L.A.C.I.C. Cowie. Shortly before the supper adjournment, the Mayor, Mr. F. Ramsbottom, expressed the pleasure it gave him to see so many present to do honour to their guests. As chairman of the Patea Patriotic Social Committee, Mr. Ramsbottom presented each with a cheque and wallet on behalf of the committee, and wished them both every success in the future and the best of good luck. Both recipients suitably replied. Supper was served by the ladies’ committee, and dancing was resumed, the evening terminating with the singing of Auld Lang Syne. Music for the evening was provided by Mr. W. G. Rogers, the M.C.’s being Messrs. O’Grady and Beauchamp and extras were played by Miss J. Adams.
