WASTE PAPER

COLLECTION BY TRAILERS. Beginning from Monday, the waste paper collection in Wanganui will be collected by trailers attached to tha rear of rubbish vehicles of the City Council. The waster paper collection will coincide with toe ordinary fortnightly rubbish collections of any locality. Waste paper must be clean, that is not earben, tarred, greasy paper, or ice cream cartons, etc., includes any old books, periodicals, magazines, newspapers and wrapping paper. To assist the rubbish collectors, citizens are asked to place the paper in bundles outside their front gates where it can be easily uplifted. IP the weather on any particular day should be wet, residents in that locality are asked to protect the bulk of their supply as far as possible, or to save it until the next collection, a fortnight later. So far- as can be stated, at present the trailers will be attached to the rubbish vehicles on every occasion, and there will be no postponement through bad weather. It is felt that this source of supply will greatly augment the collection of waste paper which is a very important war effort. Emergency Regulations prohibit the destruction of clean waste paper, and it is a compulsory duty of every citizen to save it and hand it in for re-manu-facture through the local committee for the reclamation of waste material
