FURTHER APPEALS
ARMED FORCES BOARD WANGANUI DECISIONS A sitting of the Wanganui Armed Forces Appeal Board was held in Wanganui yesterday when appeals and applications for leave from camp were dealt with. The personnel of the board was Messrs. F. Purnell (Marton), chairman, D. G. O’Toole (Wanganui), and H. Adams (Wanganui). Appeals and decisions were:— D. R. Blight, company secretary, appeal by Wanganui Aerated Water and Ice Cream Co., Ltd., adjourned sine die, to remain in Home Guard; L. J. Brooker, Registrar of Native Land Court, appeal by the Native Department (review), adjourned sine die, to remain in Home Guard; W. J. Carr, manufacturer, personal appeal (review), to remain in E.F.S.; K. S. Davey, records clerk, appeal by Public Works Department, adjourned sine die, to remain in D.E.S.C.; A. E. Hardy, insurance company superintendent. appeal by T. and G. Mutual Life Society, adjourned to March 31; G. Hartley, dairy farmer (review), adjourned sine die; R. G. Houston, office assistant, appeal by Public Works Department, adjourned sine die, to remain in D.E.S.C.; D. P. Kingston, storekeeper’s assistant, appeal by Public Works Department, adjourned sine die to remain in D.E.S.C.; F. J. Ranger, forest ranger, appeal by State Forest Service, adjourned sine die, to remain in Home Guard; E. T. Rowe, lorry driver, appeal by Public Works Department, adjourned sine die, to join the D.E.S.C.; E. N. Webby, glass beveller and silverer, personal appeal, adjourned sine die, to remain in Home Guard.
The following applications for leave from camp were dealt with: Marton Sash and Door Co., Ltd., for N. Currie, indefinite leave recommended; Fordell Timber and Case Co., Ltd., for W. J. Robertson, indefinite leave recommended; Manson and Clark, Ltd., for C. H. Christiansen, C. Johnson, and M. W. Townshend, indefinite leave recommended in each case; F. G. Bishop for E. F. Bishop, no recommendation; S. J. Sullivan, Ltd., for M. Crawford and C. F. Wall, leave recommended to May 31; same for E. M. Granville, no recommendation; L. C. D’A’th, for K. C. Climo, indefinite leave recommended, to join Home Guard; Farmers’ Co-op. Distributing Co., Ltd., for J. A. Comrie, extension of leave to March 31 recommended; I. H. Madder, for T. W. Fletcher, indefinite leave recommended; Fowler Bros., for S. F. Fowler. indefinite leave recommended; P. J. Mailman, for I. Mailman. indefinite leave recommended; H. E. Harris, for L. B. Pram, extension of leave to May 31 recommended; Wanganui Education Board, for S. A. Sims, indefinite leave recommended. Appeal Opposed In the case of P. F. Cavanagh, Turakina, the appeal by S. C. Andrews was opposed by the reservist. 'The appeal was dismissed, reservist not to be called before April 30.
