SOCIAL AND PERSONAL Miss Joyce Leyland, W.A.A.C., Wellington, is on furlough in Wanganui and is staying with her aunt. Mrs. E. M. Uttley, Gonvillc. Mrs. D. A. Lilburne left Wanganui last night for a fortnight's holiday at Hamilton and The Mount, Tauranga. Mrs. Matthews, of Wellington, is the guest of Mrs. P. Greager, Dublin Street.

Mrs. C. C. Morgan, of Otorohanga, who has been staying with her daughter, Mrs. H. C. Veitch, St. John's Hill, has left for a visit to Taihape as the guest of Mrs. Jenson.

Miss Moira Robbie, “Puna-Rua,” No. 3 Line, who is on holiday from the New Plymouth Public Hospital, has left with her mother to spend a few days in Palmerston North.

Miss H. Workman, a member of the Durie Hill Swimming Club, who collapsed during the North Island amateur swimming championships in Hamilton toward the end of January, has returned to Wanganui after being treated as an inmate of the Waikato Hospital. Mrs. V. R. Cooke, Wanganui East, leaves to-day for Wellington to attend the Silverster—Brandon wedding, which takes place on Saturday. The bride-to-be. Miss Dawn Brandon, ana her people were former residents of Wanganui.

On Wednesday Wanganui friends of Miss Amy Graham, waverley, whose marriage will take place shortly, gathered in the supper room of Foster’s Hotel, when Mrs. Alex Macnab was hostess at a sherry party. The bride-lo-be received many beautiful handkerchiefs from the guests.

Sister P. I. Johnston, of the Wanganui Public Hosnital staff, was granted leave of absence to join the W.A.A.C. whert her application came before the Hospital Board at its monthly meeting yesterday. The chairman, Mr. W. E. Broderick (Maxwell) wished Sister Johnston success in her new duties.
