THE WANGANUI SALE BIDDING RATHER ERRATIC To a good attendance at the Wanganui weekly stock sale yesterday, Messrs. Freeman R. Jackson and Co., Ltd., offered a yarding of 6000 sheep and lambs, the majority of which were lambs. The market was rather erratic and on some lots values were easier than last week by up to 2s a head. These were for the most part wether lambs, well-grown, but lacking in condition. Ewe lambs sold well, as also did shorn b.f. lambs. Fat sheep were firm at late rates. Prime fat first quality beef sold well, being firm at late rates, but secondary were a shade easier. Pigs and porkers were firm but all stores and weaners were a shade easier. Vealers sold at late rates. Quotations: Sheep.—Fat ewes, 13s to 13s 6d; fat wethers, lightweights, 21s to 24s Id; fat lambs, 21s 9d to 245; average woolly b.f. lambs, to 16s; medium, 11s 6d to 12s 9d; small, 8s to 10s 6d; shorn b.f. lambs, 13s 9d to 15s 3d; medium, 10s to 13s; small. 7s to 9s 6d; shorn wether lambs, 13s Id to 15s; medium (lacking condition), 10s 6d to 12s 8d; small, 8s to 10s; poor culls, 2s 3d to 6s 6d; ewe lambs, 17s 6d to 18s 4d; medium, 13s 6d to 16s 9d; culls, 7s to 12s; medium 2-tooth wethers, 17s lOd to 18s; 4-year ewes, late shorn, 15s Id; s.m. ewes, 10s to 10s 4d. Cattle. —Prime P.A. cows, £8 15s to £9; fat S.H. ex-dairy cows, £5 10s to £6 ss; Jersey do., £4 to £5 10s; good boner cows. £4 2s 6d to £4 14s; average, £3 5s to £4; poor, £1 5s to £1 15s; heavy bulls, £6 2s 6d to £7; light, £3 2s 6d to £4. Pigs.—Heavy porkers, to £3 7s; average, £2 5s to £2 17s 6d; light, £1 15s to £2; stores, 20s to 245; weaners, 12s 6d to 17s. Vealers.—Average vealers, £2 5s to £3 10s; hard done, 12s to 30s. FORDELL SALE Reporting on the Fordell sale, the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd. (incorporated in England) state that a total yarding of 3000 sheep was offered to a large attendance of buyers. Bidding was spirited and prices were on par with the previous week’s sale. Values were: W.f. wether lambs, 14s Id to 15s; w.f. wether lambs, medium, Ils to 13s lOd; w.f. wether lambs, small, 7s 6d to 9s; w.f. ewe lambs, medium. 13s Id to 13s 6d; w.f. ewe lambs, small, 9s Id to 10s 4d; b.f. woolly lambs, medium, Ils 4d to 14s Id; b.f. woolly lambs, small, 8s lOd to 10s 4d; 2-tooth wethers, good, to 19s 3d. HUNTERVILLE SALE The* New Zealand Fanners’ Coonera* e Distributing Cs., Ltd., report an entry of 2850 sheep. The whole yarding comprised principally of lambs with a few odd pens of ewes Lambs were selling more or less on a par with previous sales. With the exception of one pen we report a total clearance in this section. Two pens of ewes were passed. Quotations: Best shorn wether lambs, 15s 5d to 17s 6d; one pen extra good passed at 18s Id; good medium do., 13s to 13s 2d; slightly smaller but showing good quality, Ils 3d to Ils 7d; tail-end lots, 3s lOd to 7s; good woolly wether lambs, 14s lOd to 15s; medium do., Ils lOd to 13s 2d; small, to 8s 9d; extra good ewe lambs. 225; forward woolly b.f. lambs. 14s 6d; shorn do.. 12s 4d; small do.. 6s 7d to 8s: on account J. Cameron, good 1-shear S.D. rams sold from 7 to 83 guineas.
