CHRISTIAN BELIEF
LEADERS’ STATEMENT (Reed. 11 p.m.) London, Jan. 4. “Statement ot Christian Belief,' issued jointly by the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Rev. Dr. J. S. Whale, Moderator of the Free Church Federal Council, outlines the Christian faith to meet "what we believe a real need.” The statement occupied a column in The Times in small type. It says: “It is generally acknowledged that there is among our people —as gathered in military camps and elsewhere—widespread ignorance as to what the Christian faith is and a failure to see it as an intelligible and coherent view of life. Christians find in the whole Bible an interpretation of the world and its history which they try to work out in thought and conduct."
