MESSAGES FROM KING greetings”™ allies Rugby, Jan. 1. The King has sent New Year messages to President Roosevelt ar.d President Kalinin. To Mr. Roosevelt he telegraphed: "At the opening of a year so full of promise to the United Nations, I send the warmest wishes to you personally, to the gallant forces tinier your command, and all the American people. “I and my peoples are deeply ap* preciatie to all that the United States has achieved in the common cause under your inspiring leadership. To President Kalinin, the King said; “It gives me much pleasure to address to you my best wishes for the new year now opening under auspices so full of promise of eventual victory over our common foe. I welcome also this opportunity of voicing the admiration felt by the British peoples for the indomitable tenacity of the armies of our Soviet allies, a tenacity which enabled them, after long and grievous sacrifices, to launch their counteroffensive with such brilliant success. “I am more than ever confident that, in full and. steadfast co-operation, the Allies will be able to impose their will with increasing force upon the enemies of freedom and humanity until final victory is achieved.”— 8.0.W.
