HINDU PARTY PREPARES AGAINST MOSLEMS New Delhi, Jan, L The Hindu Mahasabha unanimously decided to resort “to an active movement to defend the integrity of India against the Moslems and the Pakistan proposals, also to compel Britain to recognise India as an independent nation.” The Mahasabha's working committee has been authorised to formulate a plan “to devise ways and means ot mobilising the resources of Hindus to cope with external aggression and internal disorders and prepare Hindu forces to fight this struggle efficiently.” A resolution declared: “Proof that Britain is not prepared to pdix with her power is shown by the rejection of the Mahasabha’s national demand.” i The resolution added that the effect I of a Pakistan would be to threaten civil war. Many Indian-owned newspapers did : not puolish the New Year honours as a gesture of protest against the order of the provincial governments banning the publication of a certain i class of news. The move was the re- ; suit ot a decision of the standing , committee of the all India newspaper eaitors’ conference, which resolved that until the order was withdrawn the newspapers would not publish all circulars from government houses and speeches by members of the British ■ India provincial governments except ' those portions containing decisions and announcements. The president of the conference. Dr. Khrinivasan, of Madras, requested newspapers throughout India to suspend publication on January 6 as a further protest, and this was sanctioned by thp conference.
