PRISONER—AT A BAR
An Italian prisoner of war, wearing a brown uniform with a large yellow identification patch on his back, walked into a working men’s club in an East Midland, town. How he did so is to be the subject of inquiry both by the police and the committee of the club, whose membership is largely composed of boot and shoe operatives, and whose title is the “Rifle Band Club.” The Italian did not get his drink; but what has angered the club is that he was brought to their bar by a member, a farmer, although the club is more than eight miles from the place where the man works, and a one-mile “limit” is placed on prisoners under the regulations.
