QUOTA INCREASED
BICYCLE TYRE AND TUBE ALLOCATION LATEST WANGANUI ADVICE Advice that an increased quota of raw rubber has been released ter the bicycle tyre industry has been received by Mr. W. Chaihey, secretary of Mie Wanganui Bicycle Tyre Committee. from the factory controller in the Ministry of Supply. Mr. G. A. Pascoe. As a result Wanganui’s allocation of bicycle tyres and tubes for January has been increased. It means that more deserving cases than hitherto will he able to obtain tyres for their bicycles. With the increase comes notice of alterations in Iho regulations concerning the distribution of tyres. In future consideration is to bo given to applicants who work exceptionally long hours of work, even if less than a mile and a-half from their homes. Formerly, if won< n r.s lived less than this distance from their places of employment, they were not entitled to receive a new tyre, except under unusual circumstances. In the light of the increased tyre and tube quota and the alterations in the regulations governing the distribution of tyres, applicants who now come under the provisions of the altered portion of the regulations may receive further consideration if they nut in enw applications,” a member of the Wanganui committee said yesterday. In the notice the secretary received from the factory controller the fact that the increased tyre and tube allocation cannot be guaranteed beyond March is emphasised.
