NATIONAL FIRE SERVICE

MR. A. D. WILSON HONOURED (P.A.) Wellington. Dec. 14. Al a semi-official gathering of civil defence associates Mr. A. D. Wilson, who is about to return to the National Fire Service in England after an engagement on loan Io New Zealand, was presented with a handsome souvenir of New Zealand his native country, in the form of a smoker’s companion of New Zealand woods. Speeches of Mr. S. S. Dean, chairman of the Fire Boards’ Association of New Zealand. Mr. Girling Butcher, Dominion Fire Controller, and Mr. L. Glover, secretary of the New Zealand Fire Brigades’ Union. emphatically expressed the belief that Mr. Wilson’s work marked a new and very important stage in New Zealand’s firefighting history. He had macle a very favourable impression on the authorities and personnel throughout the Dominion. Apart from advice for the emergency fire services, his expert know ledge would prove of great value. In the years after the war his comprehensive report would serve as very valuable guidance. It was praciically the first text-book on fire-fight-ing in this country.
