U.S. TRAIN SMASH
EXPRESS CRASHES INTO REAR OF ANOTHER
(Recd. 8.30 p.m.) New York, Sept. 24. It is feared that 23 people were killed when the Ambassador Express, from Detroit to Washington, crashed into the rear of a Cleveland night express and the rear of the Pullman of the Cleveland train was struck by a freight train going in the opposite direction. The smash occurred at Dickerson, Maryland. The Ambassador Express' Diesel engine overturned and caught lire. One sleeping-car fell into a deep cut. Nine of the injured have thus Lar been sent to hospital.
