Exw x.tive Committee, at a meeting last night, decided to appoint Cr. G. P. Hawkins as E.I’.S. representative on the Home Guard Selection Committee. lie will succeed Mr. J. J. Scott, originally nominated for the position. In a Jotter to the E.I’.S. Executive. Scott has not. had to act on the ? Manpower Committee for some coni siderable time, but if it should so happen that he had to act it would be i at short notice. He might be in the ■ impossible position of being the chair- - man of a tribunal hearing appeals from the decisions of the selection committee, o' which he, himself, was ! a member. “I. have discussed the matter with , the Director of National Service, who is of the opinion that in the circum- ' stances it. would be preferable lor ; some other person to be nominated in i Mr. Scott’s place.” Before calling for fresh nominations . for an E.P.S. representative on the | Home Guard Selection Committee, , Mr. Scott, who is also deputy-chair-man ot the E.P.S. Executive, and presided last night in the absence of the chairman. Hon. W. J. Rogers, M.L.C., said that he had not been required to act. on the Manpower Committee for some time.
