NEW APPOINTMENT

| HOME GUARD SELECTION COMMITTEE REPRESENTATIVE FOR E.P.S. Following receipt of a hitler front the secretary of the No. 6 District Manpower Committee, Mr. A. Garry, the Wanganui E.P.S. Exw x.tive Committee, at a meeting last night, decided to appoint Cr. G. P. Hawkins as E.I’.S. representative on the Home Guard Selection Committee. lie will succeed Mr. J. J. Executive, and presided last night in the absence of the chairman. Hon. W. J. Rogers, M.L.C., said that he had not been required to act. on the Manpower Committee for some time. He thought it wise, how- ' ever, for some other person to be apJ pointed. t The new committee, consisting ol 1 three members, will select personnel ’• for the Home Guard under the com--1 pulsory enrolment system. Other 1 members are Lieutenant E. W. Meres wether, representing the Home " Guard, and Mr. Garry, representing • the National Service Department. Mr. 1 N. G. Collinge, secretary of the No. J 3 Armed Forces Appeal Board, will 1 deputise for Mr. Garry.
