E.P.S. ALARM SYSTEM

SUGGESTED IMPROVEMENTS A suggestion that a uniform system I of warning signals for Wanganui be . adopted was made by the E.P.S. organiser, Mr. I. Manley, at a meeting : last night of the Wanganui E.P.S. Executive, and was referred to the i alarm sub-committee. He added that the present system functioned well during the recent blackout test, but it was essential that all signalling points should sound the alarm in unison. At present a system of factory whistles and bells were supplemented by hi’gh-power sirens manufactured in Wanganui and placed in various parts of the suburbs. With certain improvements, however, the strength of these sirens could be doubled. The engineer to the WanganuiRangitikei Power Board. Mr. H. Webb, had agreed to carry out certain tests with one of the sirens.
