DAILY INTERCESSION
“If you are cherishing bitter jealousy and rivalry in your hearts .... it is an earthly wisdom, unspiritual, devilish; for wherever jealousy and rivalry exist, there disorder reigns and every evil. The wisdom from above is first of all pure, then peace; able, forbearing, concilitary, full of mercy."—James iii, 14, 17. (Moffat.) FOR OUR ENEMIES. O Lord our God, Who in Jesus Christ has taught us to love those who hate us, and pray for those who do us wrong—Have mercy upon those with whom we are now at war; grant that, realising the folly and evil of their aggression, they may repent and seek after amendment. Open the eyes of those whom seltish ambition has blinded, to see wherein lies their true welfare and on what basis a new order of life may be built. Strengthen the hands of those among them who seek justice and freedom; form all men of goodwill into a great body of opinion which shall work together with us for the overthrow of tyranny and the establishment of lawful government. We ask this, even as we ourselves hope to be forgiven, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
