Mrs. Preston, the newly-elected president, presided over a good attendance or members at the monthly meeting he'd in the School Hall on: Tuesday last. Eleven new members! were welcomed. The theme of the meeting was Red; Cross work, members spending a busy i time making up padded splints for the! local first aid post. An instructive de-i monstration on the making of paper-! mache splints was given by Mrs.; Rountree. Mrs. Brow nlie commenced the I golden thread. “People in the Public! Eye,” with a most interesting talk on! the early life of Winston Churchill. Much appreciated were two songs given by Mrs. Corliss. A welcome innovation was a creche supervised by Mrs O’Reilly. During the afternoon Anzac Day j poppies were on sale. Mrs. Cooper proposed a vote of; thanks to all who had contributed to. the afternoon's success. Winners of the competitions, judged | by Miss Pairman were:—Quilt. Mrs.! Dickinson 1: child’s garment. Mrs. Dickinson 1, Mrs. Lynch 2. Hostesses were 24esdames Battell.| Chittick. Tonks and Pratt
