MANPOWER COMMITTEE

MARTON APPEALS HEARD DECISIONS ANNOUNCED A sitting of the Wanganui District Manpower Committee was held in Marton yesterday, when appeals against service in the Territorial Force were heard. The committee was Mr. F. Purnell (chairman) and Messrs. D. G. O’Toole, and H. Adams, with Mr. A. Garry as secretary. Appeals and decisions were:— T. J. McElwaine for J. Graham, carpenter, leave from camp recommended for period he is engaged on defence construction work. Same appellant for E. W. Cobham, carpenter, adjourned sine die, to be reviewed when he ceases to be engaged on defence construction work; same for P. C. J. Horn, carpenter, adjourned sine die, to be reviewed when he ceases to be engaged in defence construction work; F. J. Poppe, for H. R. Poppe, farmer, adjourned sine die, to remain in Home Guard; D. H. Simpson, farmer, personal appeal, and appeal by Mrs. S. Simpson, adjourned sine die-, to remain in the Home Guard; K. D. Scott, farm manager, adjourned sine die. to remain in the Homo Guard; C. A. Klatt, farm hand, appeal by Mrs. M. J. Klatt, adjourned sine die. to remain in the Home Quard; R. A. Wilson. for M. H. Heappey, farm hand, adjourned to next sitting of committee in Wanganui; estate of J. D. Lourie for J. J. Lourie, farm hand, adjourned sine die. to remain in Home Guard; B. Illston for J. G. Meads, shearer and farm hand, also personal appeal, adjourned sine die, to enrol in Home Guard within 14 days; R. J. Linton for L. M, T. Thompson, lorry driver, dismissed, not. to be called before June 30; A. Govenlock for A. R. Burnett, farm hand, personal appeal, dismissed, not to be called before June 30; Rata Coon. Dairy for A. J. Hagan. pasteuriser, personal appeal. personal appeal dismissed, appeal by Dairy Co. adjourned sine die, io remain in Home Guard; T. L. McGovern for R. D. Hart, farm manager, adjourned sine die.
