Crane completed a large num- : i ber of operational sorties. Once. | i operating from Britain, he carried ’ lout a patrol in search of five enenr. i I ships, entailing a flight lasting for p3a hours. Since then he has per- : formed excellent work in the MediI terranean zone, while during the evacuation of Greece Flight-Lieut. Frame 1 operated with great success and was responsible for the safe evacuation iby air of over 200 personnel. He has i throughout displayed great skill, : courage and devotion to duty. [ Air headquarters at Wellington an- I : nounced that the Air Force Medal ■ was awarded to Sergeant Daniel Paul . Phillips, R.N.Z.A.F. His mother is : Mrs. D. P. Phillips, Wellington. JjJergt. ! Phillips was born at Riverton in i ; September. 1911. and was educated at ! St. Patrick’s College, Wellington. He I enlisted in the R.N.Z.A.F. at the outbreak. and after training in New Zealand he left for Britain in the middle I of 1940.
