Mr. J. C. Dow. third clerk of the Magistrate’s Court. Wellington, is relinquishing his position to take up military duties. Lieutenant A. H. Yule. N.Z.N.V.R., formerly of Wellington, and who had been on service at Singapore, is reported to have arrived at Colombo. Mr. L. A. Parlane, formerly clerk of the Magistrate’s Court in Te Kuiti, is now attached to the staff of the Wellington Magistrate’s Court. Mr. A. J. Pullan, M.A. (Oxon.), and Mr. J. Rhys Richardson, B.Sc.. of London University, have joined the staff of John McGlashan College. Dunedin. Mr. Pullan has served in Siam and Java. Mr. Richardson was till recently principal of the Choon Gu<m English School in Singapore. The death of Mr. H. W. Scott, which occurred recently in Palmerston North has removed one of the best known veterinarians and chemists in the Manawatu district. Mr. Scott served his apprenticeship as a chemist in Wellington and started in business in Palmerston Noi\h in 1899. He represented the North Island al hockey and was an enthusiastic sportsman, being keen on shooting and I rout-fishing and was a member of the Acclimatization Society.
