SURFACEMAN KILLED
(P.A.) Auckland, March 10. Caught on the line by the TaneatuaAuckland express in the Papakura station yard this evening, George Henry Kernot. surfaceman, aged 60. married, received head injuries and died while being conveyed to hospital. Kernot, who was travelling on a jigger when he met the express, tried to lift the jigger clear and was struck by the locomotive. He leaves a wife and three sons. '
