COUPON PETROL

C ANNOT BE GIVEN AWAY. Palmerston N., March 10. While petrol coupons can be given away, the petrol obtained with them , cannot. This little-known fact was t made evident during the hearing of a prosecution in the Palmerston North Magistrate’s Court yesterday, when C. 11. Larsen was cherged with disposing of five gallons of petrol in a manner not authorised by the Oil Fuel Regu- . lations and Mrs. C. Vazie-Simons was I charged with receiving the petrol. Mr. T. M. N. Rodgers, in entering a plea of guilty on behalf of defendants, said that there had been a straight-out ; gift. The motoring public, stated 1 counsel, knew that coupons were ; transferable, but very few of them knew that the petrol obtained with , these coupons could not be given , away. Mr. H. P. Lawry ordered defendants to pay costs only, saying that 1 it was the first case of its kind thatj ihe had heard or read of.
