VOLOKALAMSK RECAPTURED

GERMAN DIVISIONS ROUTED (Recd. 11.15 p.m.) London. Dec. 20. The Russians report the recapture of Volokalamsk and Volbokala southwards of Lake Ladoga, and also Plavsk, 40 miles from Tula on the railway to Orel. The Germans were driven from 12 other centres on December 19. 1500 of the enemy were killed and 53 machine-guns and 19 mortars were captured. The Moscow radio, referring to the recapture of Voibokala, says the Russians routed the 11th. and 291st. German infantry divisions and also two regiments of the 54th. Division. Over 5000 Germans were killed and a large number of guns, tanks and machineguns were secured.
