DAMAGE AT LE HAVRE EFFECTIVE R.A.F. RAIDS. Vichy, Dec. 18. The Mayor of Le Havre, interviewed regarding the effect of R.A.F. raids on Le Havre, said that, during “fifteen terrible months,” the raids destroyed all the harbour installations. Le Havre’s population is now 110.000, compared with 165,000 before the war. The majority are workless. The most severe raids occurred last August and September, and on the night of September 15 “diabolical” bombs hurst the water mains, wherefore brigades were powerless to deal with 57 fires raging in the morning. Waler was ultinitaely pumped from the sea. Of the city’s 19.500 houses, 4500 were damaged, and scarcely a house in lhe city retained its windows.
