GERMANS IN MOROCCO AND WEST AFRICA
STEADY INFILTRATION New York. Dec. 17. The Germans have systematically prepared for the early military occu>ation nf French and Spanish Morocco. Tangier, and West Africa, declares Allen Raymond. Herald-Tribune correspondent. from North Africa. He says thousands of Nazi agents nosing as tourists and merchants and carrying Dutch, Swiss and Danish passports have recently penetrated those territories. Informed opinion is that France is ready to yield to any German demand except surrender of her fleet and actual fighting for Germany. Open Nazi mill arv occupation of North-west Africa from Tunisia to Dakar is inevitable unless Britain and America act first. I’he strong anti-AHied feeling among the ruling Spaniards perilously assists the German preparations by suppressing virtually all pro-Allied news, exaggerating Axis successes, playing up historical resentment against America following the loss of Cuba and the Philippines and promising the a tremendous share from the German victory.
