ITALIAN SUBMARINE SUNK
53 SURVIVORS PICKED UP GENERAL lA)SES LII E London, Dec. 17. The Admiralty announces that a British destroyer sank a large Italian submarine in the Mediterranean, picking up «3 survivors. The attack was made by the destroyer when the submarine was trying to give passage to 20 Italian officers to Italy. One of these officers, General Lami, was chief executive engineer at Italian Army headquarters. He was not among the survivors. The submarine was one of Italy’s latest, having been built under the 1938 programme.
