WEDDING

BARWICK—LONGSTAFF Decorations of roses, pink and blue hydrangeas and delphiniums made an attractive setting in Christ Church, Wanganui, for the marriage on Saturday afternoon. December 13, of Joyce Lilian, third daughter of Mr. and. Mrs. A. E. Longstaff, of Keith Street, to Lieutenant Bruce Cecil Barwick, elder son of Mrs. E. M. Barwick, of Arran Place, Aramoho. The Ven. Archdeacon J. P-. Young was the officiating clergyman, and Mr. F. i Wentworth Slater presided at the organ. | The bride, who entered the church I with her father, made a charm ng picture in her gown of magnolia satin I effectively styled with a corselette i waistline dipping to a point at the |front and back. Shirred at the shoulders the bodice was softly draped into ithe wide pointed belt and formed a | V-neckline. The long sleeves, puffed ■at the shoulders, tapered to points over the hands. A row of pearl buttons adorned the corselette belt, into which the skirt was slightly gathered, the gored style adding fullness at the footline. A heart-shaped coronet of satin held in place the cut tulle veil and she carried a sheaf bouquet of waterlilies and maidenhair fern. Her only ornament was a two-string necklet of pearls. Her bridesmaids were her two sisters. Misses Ellen and Dorothy Longstaff. who wore pretty taffeta frocks, the former in a shade of romance blue and the latter in clover rose colour. The frocks were in similar style to that worn by the bride, the only difference being a toning velvet bow at the back and the corselette belt was buttonless. Heart-shaped halos in self taffeta and edged with silver were worn, and their bouquets in fan sheaf design were of pink and blue delphiniums, larkspur, carnations and maidenhair fern. The bridegroom was attended by Lieutenant C. H. Raven, of Feildin; . as best man. and Sergeant J. H. Clark was groomsman. The ushers were Messrs. J. J. Baker and H J. Duffy. During the signing of the register the solo ‘'Because" was sung Corporal L. J. Canty. After the ceremony the guests attended the reception, which was held at the Virginia Lake Kiosk, where the table decorations were of Christmas lilies and pink roses. To receive the guests. Mrs. Longstaff wore a black French marocain ensemble trimmed with oyster satin, black hat and accesories. She also w ore a spray of red roses and maidenhair fern. Assisting her was Mis. Barwick, mother of the bridegroom, wearing a heavy cTepe ensemble in grey shade embroidered in roulleau work over) pink, with hat to tone and black accessories. Her spray was of pink j geberas. carnations and maidenhair i fern. For going away the bride chose a blue cloque frock, black hat, shoes ' and gloves, and wore a penguin blue. skunk fur cape, the gift of the bride- , groom.
