TURAKINA SCHOOL
1 The Turakina School held a veryi i successful sale of goods, etc., on Wed-! , nesday afternoon. A display given by | I the children included drill, oral recitling and the playing of the Percussion! Band. | Each child was presented, as last j year, with a Social Security certificate! instead of the usual prizes. .Mr. Jackson, headmaster, spoke to! the parents and said that Grant Watt had gained the distinction of being Dux this year. Mr. Jackson also gave special prizes] Io those whose books were kept the 1 neatest: Nola Perry (Standard 6). L. 'Lumsden (Standard s>, and Isabelle Major (Standard 4>. A competition for a sponge sand- 1 vich. for which the prizes were given by Mrs. Glasgow, was held and Nola; Perry gained first place with Isabelle Major second. Mr. Bryant, chairman, thanked the teachers and those who had helped to I
make the afternoon enjoyable. During the afternoon members of the Women's Institute gave each child i hag of lollies and an ice cream.
