APPLICATIONS FOR LIGHTING AT CHRISTMAS All applications for extra decorative lighting for the Christmas period ! made to electric power boards in the North Island will be refused. Those people who had been encouraged to cut down on essential supplies would have reason to complain if per- ■ mission were granted for this obvious ■ luxury, said the Dominion Lighting Controller. Mr. F. T. M. Kissell, in Wellington yesterday. The measure would apply only in the North Island, he said, as there was no shortage in the South Island.
