PRISONER IN CRETE

FORMER WANGAMI BOY Advice that their son. Sapper C. A. Aitken, of the New Zealand Engineers, was a prisoner of war in a transit camp in Crete has been received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Aitken. Seddon St., Aramoho. This advice was contained in a letter from Sapper Aitken, from whom his parents had a letter written from Crete on May 2, after the evacuation of Greece, and it was the first advice they have had since being notified on June 21 that he had been posted as missing. Sapper Aitken told his parents that he wils well and that there were 4U other Wanganui men in the same camp. Prior to enlisting Sapper Aiken, who is a carpenter by trade, had been in the employ of Mr. J. H. Jensen, builder, of Marton, and had also been engaged with the firm of Wm. Angus, Ltd., contractor*, of Napier, on the chief post office at Wanganui. He was also a member of the Aramoho Boating Club.
