MEETING AT PAEROA

OHINEMURI JOCKEY CLUB TODAY’S CARD REVIEWED (0.C.) Auckland, Sept. 26. It appears as if there will be the usual nine races at Paeroa to-morrow, opening day of the Ohinemuri spring fixture, for there are so many engaged in the Maiden that divisions seem certain. The going will be ideal and the turf not too hard for the jumpers. Fields all round are very good, although the open sprint may be weak by starting time. Betting will be win-and-place. Contrary to the usual experience, one of the best fields to-morrow is in the big race, the Poland Cup, with 17 engaged. Provincial class in the handicap grade is very good and this event will take some winning. Speed rather than stamina is what is wanted at Paeroa and Wildore may be the most likely candidate. Gold Vaals displayed promising form at Te Aroha and so too did Volifox. Night Pilot and Lou Rosa may want more racing. Young Paddon is very well, but this turning track may be against him. Royevrus will be all the better for his run last Monday, and Kilcash, Ned Cuttie and Vitement appear to be the best of the others. Wildore is favoured.

The class in the Flying Handicap is by no means brilliant and this will give Gold Money Song a royal chance. It was said that he pulled up not so good after a recent gallop at Takanini, but then there were also adverse reports about Route March a few days prior to this colt winning two at Avondale. Town Section and Sure Pay have been racing prominently, and interest will be taken in the form of the three-year-olds Hogarth and Miss Baffles. Gold Money Song is the best. Gay Seton and Conflagration have their chances in the jumping events, and Trig Station ought to add to his record in the Ngatea Handicap. In the minors Foxlore and Willie Pay (Maiden) and Sporting Sister, and the Te Aroha runaway winner Empire Rose should more than hold their own. Horses favoured for to-morrow are: Maiden Handicap. Foxlore, Willie Pay, Bronze Meter and Mihinui. Kopuarahi Hurdles. —Gay Ston, Maxown, Very Glad. Ngatea Handicap. Trig Station, Minority, Queen City. Hack Cup.—Sporting Sister, Sharmin, Valley Maid. Poland Cup.—Wildore, Volifox, Gold Vaals. Maramarua Steeples. Conflagration, Rival, General Ruse. Flying Handicap.—Gold Money Song, Sure Pay, Town Section. Kerepeehi Hack. Empire Rose, Verulam, Kaimanawa. Following are the acceptors:— 12.00 MAIDEN HANDICAP (Of £l5O ; 6 furlongs)
