Mrs. Williamson presided at the monthly meeting of the Alton Women's Division of the Farmers’ Union, and gave an interesting talk on the recent conference. A knitting afternoon was held at Mrs. Sutherland’s home, while several members met at Mrs. Foreman’s home, making 14 cakes for troops overseas. Parcels have also been packed. Competition winners were: Anemones, Mrs. Brunton 1, Mrs. Boyce 2; linger nuts, Mrs. Boyce 1, Miss Foreman 2. Mrs. Garnett 3. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Taylor and Mudgway.
