PUNISHED FOR WOUNDS
SELF-INFLICTED INJURY PRIVATE WHO SHOT HIMSELF GIVEN HARD LABOUR (Press Assn.) Christchurch, Aug. 13. Sentence of three months' hard labour has been imposed on Private Leslie Gordon Taylor, a Second N.Z.E.F. soldier in Burnham Camp, who pleaded guilty before a courtmartial to a charge of wilfully wounding himself. Taylor was on final leave on June 6 when he went rabbit-shooting near his home in Hornby. He fired two shots from a double-barrelled shotgun through his left boot, inflicting a wound in the great toe vvnich, however, did not make him unfit for military service.
