McAlister, M.C., camp commandant. “The authorities at the hospital ha e invariably displayed a une spirit in dealing with all requests for the care and attention of patients from the camp, and their co-operation ha> been warmly appreciated,” said Lieut.Colonel McAlister. In dealing with the outbreak 01 measles at the camp, said the camp commandant, the hospital authorities had placed at their disposal accommodation in the isolation block and had also co-operated in providing assistance at the temporary isolation hospital at the racecourse. In addition. I hey had supplied extra medical assistance. Two marquees from the Racecourse Camp had been taken to the grounds in order to provide extra accommodation for the measles patient* from Waiouru. as well as from the camp. Those w ill not at present he required at the hospital, as the patients have been accommodated in the emergency hospital at St. Paul's Hall. Yesterday 20 patients were conveyed from the Racecourse Camp to the hospital by the Free Ambulance, and the sick w’ard at the camp has been closed. Together with patients sent down from the Waiouru Camp, about SO cases of measles, mumps and chickenpox are being treated m lhe isolation block at the Wanganui Public Hospital. In addition, there are 33 patients in the emergency hospital at St. Paul’s Hall. This’ extra accommodation is being supervised by a sistci from the Public Hospital, who has n staff of trained nurses, assisted by voluntary aids provided by the Red Cross Society and the St. John Ambulance Association.
