Y.W.C.A. GATHERING
SECRETARY FAREWELLED. A happy party assembled in the Y.M.C.A.-Y.W.C.A. Lounge last night, when members of the Board of Management and their wives, Women’s Y.W.C.A. Committee and Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Y.M.C.A. entertained Miss Vera Marshall, W; after two years as secretary of the Wanganui Association, is leaving this week on transfer to Wellington. Eulogistic reference was made to Miss Marshall’s organising ability and the capable manner in which she had carried out her duties, also her line work in connection with the many activities of the Y.W.C.A. On behail of the Women's Committee, Miss E. Graham, president, presented the ■>uest of honour with two pictures and a book. Mr. T. Russell, president of the Board of .Management, on behalf of the members presented Miss Marshall with a black handbag and pair of gloves and extended best wishes in her new sphere of work. Miss Marshall, who was also the recipient of bouquets, made an interesting little speech and urged all to continue their endeavours-in the interests of the Y.W.C.A. „ Occasion was taken to formally welcome the new secretary, Miss V. Hirons, who had the opportunity of meeting members of the association and committee. Supper was served. Last Wednesday afternoon Miss Marshall was entertained by the members of the Ladies’ Auxiliary o the Y M.C.A. and presented with a spray of flowers by the president, Mrs. J. A. Hair. The arrangement of the spray was the work of Mrs. F. Carpenter. Miss Marshall was also farewelled by the various clubs and groups of the association.
