New Handbags. Elizabeth Barwick (Rutland Buildings) has a new range of handbags on display that are worth looking at. The bags are in the latest American styles and most attractive.* Gonville Croquet Club. At a Gonville Croquet Club committee meeting held on Monday, members elected Mr. F. Harrison as patron of the club. A vote of sympathy was passed to the family of the late Mr. J. Morrison. Mr. Morrison had been patron of the club for 14 years. Card Party for Red Cross Funds. A very pleasant “500’' afternoon was spent at the home of Mrs. A. G. Mills, “Shirwall,” Jellicoe Street, last Thursday, in aid of the Wanganui East Red Cross Funds. Those present were Mesdames Stewart, Deere, Madder, Hart. Bamford, Byers, Rail. Hawke, Olliver, Sowman, Ralph and Munro. Prizes were won by Mesdames Ralph. Rait and Bamford. Soldiers’ Farewelled. At the conclusion of the service at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church on Sunday night, two members, Messrs. Les. Reube and McDougall, who have joined the military forces, were farewelled and presented with testaments by the Rev. A. C. McLean. Gifts were aiso presented to Mr. Reube from fellow members of the choir by Mr. E. R. Mara, and from the Bible Class by Mr. Ken Patterson. Y.W.C.A. Appointments for Work in Egypt. In response to an urgent request from Miss Jean Begg for more workers for the Y.W.C.A. in the Middle East, the Y.W.C.A. of New Zealand has appointed two additional members to go to Egypt. The two appointed are Miss Betty Thorpe, of the Auckland branch of the association, and Miss Muriel Wilson, of the Christchurch branch.
