LOSSES OF AIRCRAFT
BATTLE OF THE SKIES BALANCE FAVOURS BRITAIN Rugby, Aug. 10. A week of incessant and widespread raiding resulted in Britain retaining the balance in aircralt gain:, and losses. The comparative losses during the week ending at dawn today are; German.
The Admiralty, meanwhile, an nounced that one aircralt was destroyed by one of His Majesty's ships during the week ended noon yesterday. An Air Ministry communique states that R.A.F. fighters escorted Blenheim bombers in an attack on enem; shipping oft the Frencn coast on Sunday morning. A supply ship was twice hit and left burning. An enemy fighter was destroyed by the escort. Two of our bombers and one fighter are missing. Our fighters aiso carried out several sweeps over Northern France during the day; no opposition from enemy fighters was encountered.
There is nothing to report regarding air activity over Britain to-day. An Admiralty communique says a Heinkel 111 was shot down into the sea last night by anti-aircraft tire from a group of our minesweepers; our ships suffered neither damage nor casualties.—B.O.W,
