OFF TO AUSTRALIA
HIGH-PRICE YOUNGSTERS Three rising two-year-olds left for Auckland last week en route for Australia after having been broken in and wintered at the Grange Stud, Westmere. It is a pity that early juvenile racing in Australia loses some of its interest when the youngsters’ names give little clue to their breeding, but it is likely that this trio will assist in maintaining the Dominion's reputation. One of the trio was the top-priced yearling, the colt by Defoe from Hine Wehi, thus a brother to Sir Crusoe and half-brother to Meamea. Another was the Foxbridge-Gay Sheila colt, for whom 750gns. was uaid, and the third was the top-priced filly, by Man’s Pal, out of Monoxide, therefore half-sister to Cerne Abbas and Custodian.
