Fine weather prevailed at the February meeting of the Turangaarere W.I. Mrs. Bartell presided over a good attendance of members and after the usual singing of the N.Z. National Anthem and the repeating of the Aspirations she welcomed four visitors, one being an old member of the institute, Mrs. Snell, now’ of New Plymouth, Mrs. Donald, New Plymouth. and Mrs. and Miss Rasmussen, of the P.W.D., Hihitahi. Business was dealt with, after which was brought up the question of nominations for t'/’ new committee for the ensuing year, but it was decided that the committee remain the same, with the addition of another member, Mrs. Canton. The motto was supplied by Mrs. Millan. Afternoon tea was served by Mesdames Pohe and Tall, after which competitions were announced as follows; —Collection of flowers (one of a kind): Mrs. Murdoch 1, Mrs. Pohe 2. Gelatine: Airs. Sinclair and Aliss Bartell (a tie). The meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem. The motto for next meeting will be supplied by Mrs. Pohe. while the compeitors are to be as follows:--Best collection of vegetables, plain scones. At a social afternoon held previous-
ly in the local hall competitions were won as follows:—Biscuit, musicians: Mrs. Murdoch and parte/•, Mrs. Pohe. Peg competition: Airs. L. Anderson (Taihape) 1, Miss E. Adlam (Taihape) 2. Jumbled N.Z. towns: Miss Watson (Christchurch) 1, Mrs. L. Anderson (Taihape) 2. Drawing pig (blindfolded): Miss Adlam (Taihape) 1.
