LATE CHIEF SCOUT

CHRISTMAS CARD ARRIVES IN WANGANUI RECEIVED BY DOMINION CHIEF COMMISSIONER A Christmas card from the late Chief Scout, Lord Baden-Powell, was delivered to the Dominion Chiel Commissioner, Mr. Hector Christie, Wanganui, recently. The card was posted from Nyeri, Kenya, some time before the end of last year, and had been about three months in transit. It is illustrated with lively pen-and-ink sketches by the Chief Scout and oears the following message:—“This is to offer you our hearty wishes for as happy a Christmas as war will allow, and a New Year bright with promise. Out of evil good will come. We owe a statue to Hitler; he has done more than any man ever to consolidate our nation at home and overseas, and has given us friends in American and and in all the countries he has ravaged. Such wide friendships will help to world peace as soon as he and his war clouds have been swept away.”
