LAWN TENNIS CONTROL IN U.S.A.

AMATEUR STATUS NEW RULINGS BY THE ASSOCIATION Received Feb. 9, 6.40 p.m. WASHINGTON, Feb. 8. The United States Lawn Tennis Association has ruled that players connected with the sale of tennis goods are ineligible for amateur competition. It has been made unlawful for an amateur to accept unlimited amounts of tennis equipment from manufacturers —the executive committee will rule on the proper number of racquets and balls to be acceptable. Shoesj—plothing and other equipment are ruled out completely. The amateur may not accept travelling or living expenses for more than eight invitation tournaments, four sectional championships, excluding his own, within one year, the national championships excepted. Hospitality accepted by an amateur at a private home will be regarded as expenses furnished.
