HITHER AND THITHER

St. John’s Hill Red Cross. Last Friday members of St. John’s Hill Red Cross held their first meeting for the year, and were welcomed by the convener, Mrs. W. Russell. A “bring and buy” stall attracted many purchasers, and the competitions were well patronised, the winners being as follows:—Dinner, Mr. N. Harman; sweets, Mrs. C. Treadwell; apron, Miss Martoin. Khaki Club Dance. A large number of dancers made merry In the Union Boat Club Hall on Saturday night, when the Khaki Club heid its first dance of the year to entertain the New Zealand Scottish Regiment at present in camp in Wanganui. Very pretty and attractive frocks were worn and everyone present spent a happy and enjoyable evening. The orchestra rendered some exceptionally bright numbers. Among those present were: Misses Curtis, Singleton, Lucas, McPhail, Brown, Sampson, Burgess, Finlay, Parkinson, Dawson, Mackay, Green, Haggler, Allen, Douglas, B. Cooke, J. Cooke, Paul, Tyley (2), Dunn, Aitken, Goldthorpe, Thrush, Ratliff, Riley, Prosser, Walker, Wilson, Smith, Coull, Nichol, Burgess, Webster, Rowe, Healey, Gardiner, Wishart, Long, Fore (4), M. Shang and several others.
