WORK AT TAKININI

NOITARO IMPRESSIVE A smart half-mile by Tellsom and good trials by The Dozer, Orelio, Full Hand, Miss Gay, Arvaukr, anu Noitaro were features of the work at i'akaninl on Thursday morning. The middle grass track, oft, out, was in use and provided excellent going. Orelio and Full Hand were on terms at the end of a smartly-run six furlongs in 1.15 2-5, the first three taking 37 4-ssec., with both working well. Gay Miss hit out well while covering half a mile in 50 25sec. The best effort over this distance was credited to Tellsom, who recorded 49 3-ssec. Honours over five furlongs went to Noitaro, who registered 1.2 2-5, her performance being enhanced by lhfact that she w’as carrying a good weight. The Dozer and Surpai were together at the conclusion of seven furlongs in 1.31, the last half-mile in 52sec. They were lightly weighted but both worked well. Queen City strode over a mile in 1.46, the pace not being on till th<last half-mile, which she c.Vered in 52sec. Arvakur got the worst of the start ■with Cambria, but was holding him safely at the end of half a mile in 50 2-ssec. Cilas worked over a mile and aquarter, sprinting the last half-mile in 52sec. and the last three furlongs in 39sec. with Kawariki. Miss Gay was doing better than River Plate at the end of four furlongs in 50sec., Glen Connell taking f 51sec. for the last four of five. Minko and Opuatia were on terms after covering four furlongs in 51se>. Other gallops were: Three furlongs: Nellie Head, 40sec.;

Lapidarian and Small Boy, 39 2-ssec.; Hunting Bee, 41sec. Four furlongs: Mysito and Sea Law, 51 3-ssec.; Dinky Di. Five furlongs: La Rosita, 1.6; Snake Gully, 1.5 2-5, easily. Six furlongs: Ascot Bloom and Court Favourite, 1.17 3-5. Court Favourite, Surpai, The Dozer. Noitaro, Queen City, River Plate, and Glen Connell will leave for Rotorua to-morrow.
