CROQUET CHALLENGE. TAUMARUNUI v. RAETIHI. (Own Correspondent.) On Wednesday afternoon a team representing the Raetihi Croquet Club successfully withstood a challenge from the Taumarunui Club’s representatives for the King Country Challenge, Cup, which has been in the possession of the Raetihi Club for the last two season. The maten was played on the Ohakune lawns to suit the convenience of the Taumarunui players. All matches were played from scratch and Raetihi won by a margin of 38 points. The following are the results, Raetihi names being mentioned first:— Doubles.—Mesdames Windle and Stewart (26) defeated Mesdames Warner and MacLeod (14); Mesdames Sandford and Russell 23 lost to Mesdames Davys and Christmas (26). Singles.—Mrs. Windle 26 defeated Mrs. Warner 1 Mrs. Sandford 24 lost to Mrs. Christmas 26; Mrs. Russell 26 defeated Mrs. Davys 11. Mrs. Stewart 17 lost to Mrs. McLeod 26. Totals.—Raetihi, 142 points; Taumarunui, 104 -points. The Ohakune Club will be challenging for the cup and the match will be played in the near future.
