BANNERETTE MATCH. ST. JOHN’S CLUB WINS. The St. John's representatives, who hold the Bannerette, had the hardest tussle this season to defeat the Wanganui Club challengers. The game produced play of an even higher standard than is usual in these contests and the result was in doubt right up till the last end. Wanganui were ahead 4-0 on the third end and 7-1 on the sixth end, 8-5 on the ninth, and 10-6 on the eleventh end. St. John’s drew level on the twelfth and were ahead 14-10 on the fifteenth end, but the challengers drew level on the seventeenth end. Three on the eighteenth and a single on the nineteenth put St. John’s in the lead by 18 to 14. Wanganui scored two on the twentieth end. St. John’s had the shot on the last end and the Wanganui skip played a fast one and ran the jack back, but St. John's still lay two shots and the skip added a third, an interesting game thus ending in St. John's favour, 21-16.
The teams were: — Wanganui.—White, Mclndoe, McGruer, Dick. St. John’s.—Cameron, Allen, Davidson. Hay.
