FURTHER DECISIONS
APPEALS AGAINST ARMED SERVICE WANGANUI CASES Dec isions reserved at its sitting in Wanganui on Wednesday were announced by the No. 3 Armed Forces Appeal Board yesterday. The appeals concerned were based on grounds of undue hardship, or public interest, and were on behalf of men engaged in farming activities. The board consists of Mr. A. Coleman, S.M. (Wanganui), Mr. T. H. B. Ewens (Wanganui), and Mr. T. R. Lees (Palmerston North). Decisions announced yesterday were:— Leslie Coates Hartwell, appeal by self on grounds of undue hardship, co-appellant being his father, William Hartwell, on the same grounds.—Dismissed conditional on appellant not being called up before April 30, 1941. Donald Batty Rogers Winwood, for whom Mr. H. G. Horsley appeared, appeal by self on grounds of public interest and undue hardship, coappellant being his father, Arthur Albert Winwood, on the same ground. —Dismissed conditional on appellant not being called up before April 1, 1941. George Kitchener Newland, for whom Mr. J. H. Cowdeii (Waverley) appeared, appeal by self on grounds of public interest and undue hardship, co-appellant being his father, J. G. Newland, farmer.—Dismissed conditional on appellant not being called up before his brother, D. C. Newland, is released from Territorial training.
